{Northern Michigan Wedding // Tia + Patrick}

{mio, michigan // october 2019}

I’ve known Tia + Patrick for a while. They were both just 2 grades below me in school. I was excited when Tia reached out to me to photograph their wedding. Come to find out that it was on my birthday! Fast forward a couple months to their big day, I drove up from downstate as I had a wedding the day before. Luckily Mio is my hometown and my grandparents still live there so I had somewhere to finish getting ready before heading out for the day.

I pull up to the hair salon and the girls are raring and ready to go! It was a bit chilly out so we tried to not spend a lot of time outside. After a couple photos with the girls, we headed to the venue. The ceremony was small but very personal. The giant fall tree as their backdrop was gorgeous. Then they became husband and wife.

The reception was when the crazy fun started to happen. Scott, the best man, and Patrick used to wrestle in school so obviously you can’t not have fake wrestling at your wedding. I felt like almost anytime I turned around, someone was fake kicking or punching someone else. But that’s what boys do. And that’s what makes the best memories.

{Graham Banquet Center Wedding // Emily + Bradley}

{laingsburg, michigan // october 2019}

Emily and Brad are the cutest high school sweethearts. They ran cross country together and even played in the band together. Watching marvel movies and documentaries are what they like doing in their free time. They absolutely love Qdoba and chips and salsa in general.

Brad proposed in the sweetest way. He decided to take her disc golfing where they grew up. When he dropped her off, they said goodbye and she started to walk up the driveway. But little did she know that what he was about to do next would change her life forever. He yelled “Emily, you forgot something!” so she turned back around the corner and he was down on one knee. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. And of course she said YES! And in that exact spot was where they had their first kiss exactly 6 years before.

{Union City Senior // Logan}

{chicago, il; union city, mi; traverse city, mi // july + september 2019}

I’ve known Logan her whole life, well because she’s my little sister. And she had the crazy idea to go to Chicago to take some of her senior photos. Which was fine with me since the last time I was there was when I was a kid. We were lucky because her dad’s brother lives there and took us around the town to the coolest places! The next day we drove back to her hometown and took her sports photos in the gym. A couple months later, she came up to Traverse City to take some fall photos.

Hard to believe my not-so little sister is graduating in the spring!

{Peninsula Room Wedding // Kelsie + Taylor}

[traverse city, mi // september 2019}

This was a wedding that I second shot at, but it was just so beautiful that I can’t not share it!

I met Kelsie + Taylor on their wedding day and they were so inviting! I started off with the boys at an air bnb in downtown traverse city where they were getting ready. Then we went up Old Mission to the Peninsula Room. Taylor and the guys hung around for a bit while we waited for Kelsie and the girls to arrive. Shortly after they did, Kelsie + Taylor did their first look. Then we had some fun with the wedding party and there may have been a little too much grabbing from the groomsmen! Oops!

The ceremony had the most beautiful backdrop of the sun coming down on the lake. After that was cocktail hour and a wonderful dinner. We snuck out towards the end of dinner to find the best sunset!

{Hubbell 45th Parallel Barn Wedding // Mylia + Jeremy}

{kewadin, mi // september 2019}

Mylia + Jeremy have the cutest relationship and baby! And they know how to throw a party!

Jermey couldn’t hold back his tears when the doors open and Mylia walked out. Really shows the true love he has for her. I think the only thing that went wrong was the inside of the barn was roasting. Luckily it rained just enough to cool down outside. Rain is good luck on a wedding day is what I always say. When it came to the reception, everyone had a blast! Mylia “iced” Jeremy when he went to get the garter and that’s something I hadn’t seen a bride do! So ladies, if you think your man is gonna be a bit cocky when he tries to get the garter, “ice” him!
